CORONAVIRUS PREVENTION
CDC and WHO Guidelines Synopsis
- Avoid crowds
- Maintain at least 1-meter distance from people with respiratory symptoms, such as coughing and sneezing
- Avoid unnecessary travel (plane/ boats are incubators)
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
- If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
- Avoid touching face, wipe door knobs & handles regularly
- Keep your cellphone clean
CORONAVIRUS SYMPTOMS
Watch for symptoms and serious life-threatening warning signs.
- Pay attention to potential CoronaVirus symptoms such as fever, dry cough, and shortness of breath. If you feel like you are developing symptoms, call your doctor.
- If you develop serious and life-threatening warning signs for this virus get medical attention immediately. In adults serious warning signs are:
- Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
- Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
- New confusion or inability to arouse
- Bluish lips or face
Symptoms can start 2-14 days after exposure
People at risk:
Older adults and people who have severe chronic medical conditions like heart, lung, kidney disease, or diabetes seem to be at higher risk for more serious CoronaVirus illness. Also, people taking immune-suppressants for auto-immune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and Lupus. Early data suggest older people are twice as likely to have serious CoronaVirus related illness.
